Anonymous letters will not be published. Letters of no more than 350 words are encouraged. Longer letters may be edited to fit available space. The American will not publish letters that violate standards of good taste, make libelous allegations, endorse commercial products or attack a specific private individual or business. “Thank-you” letters that list benefactors are not encouraged. For reasons of fairness, and to allow time for rebuttal or correction, The American will not publish election letters in the edition immediately prior to that election.
